More about the Memory Café

We currently support more than 20 couples where one partner has dementia in our weekly meetings on Thursday afternoons. Activities include seated dance, crafts, quizzes, and lively discussions on seasonal themes.  An outdoor event is planned for the summer, using the lovely garden at Middle Street Resource Centre. Since we began, over 100 families have benefitted from the Memory Café. People with dementia find it helps to meet others who understand what it’s like to come to terms with a diagnosis.  Carers of people with dementia share wisdom and advice.  Volunteers, trustees and guests always have a good laugh.  We receive some funding from the local authority, some from charities and bequests, and we charge a small amount for attendance.  We have a paid administrator, but we depend on trustees to manage the charity. Could you help?  The time commitment could range from about 2 hours per month to 2 hours per week, depending on your availability. Many jobs can be done remotely from home.
